Dmitry Familtsev, MD, PhD, is a fellowship-trained and board-certified Cardiologist. He trained to treat adult patients for a variety of cardiovascular (heart and blood vessels) diseases, including ischemic heart disease (narrowing of the arteries), heart failure and cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat), structural heart disease, cardio metabolic disease (heart disease related to diabetes, obesity and lipid disorders) and peripheral vascular disease (blood vessels and circulation disorder). Additionally, I am certified as a registered physician in vascular interpretation (RPVI). Born and raised in Russia, but has called the United States home since 2008. He speak both English and Russian. His desire is to treat his patients, not just the disease. Dr. Familtsev sees patients with all types of cardiovascular problems and also enjoys treating other internal medicine problems, when appropriate. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, traveling, health/fitness, music and raising his children.

The professionalism and attention to detail of all Carondelet medical and clerical staff has been excellent, and I will recommend Carondelet to appropriate friends or acquaintances. Incidentally, my first wife (now deceased), an MD and formerly a VP for Research at the AMA, and then, until she retired, an Associate Dean of both Medicine and Pharmacy at UNC-Chapel Hill, ensured that I had superb health care while we were married (1965-2013), including a quad heart bypass surgery and a 'tweak' to repair an errant heart valve at UNC in 2006. Prior to my retirement to Vail AZ in 2011, I was a professor of PPE [Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics] at Duke and UNC-CH, 2001-2011.

The Doctor went through my medication and my records did a EKG ..ordered a test.. Said he wanted to stay on top of my medical condition... That's what I expect out of a Doctor and he's the kind of Doctor I need... Gave me the feeling I was in good hands with him..
